I grew up in a small town in northern Indiana called Plymouth where one’s reputation could go a long way, so I was very much concerned with living a moral life.  This strenuous moral push was fueled by my desire to be accepted and liked by everyone.  I sought my own fame and glory and completely rebelled against God with my life without even knowing it as I received countless praises from family, teachers, coaches, and friends for my behavior.

I attended college at Indiana State University and continued right on with the same mindset and behavior that I had in years prior. After three months at ISU, I had a 4.0 GPA, was in a relationship, and was being recognized in the gym during pick up games for my athletic ability.  I had everything going for me, above what I had in high school and with more recognition.  After competing in a Campus Outreach hosted basketball tournament on campus, one of the staff members began to build a friendship with me.  He presented the Gospel of Jesus Christ and after about a month of Bible study God opened my eyes to the truth in His Word.  God showed me personal sin and rebellion and its obvious evidences in my life.  As He poured on conviction and guilt for my wrongdoing and rebellion, He also reminded me of the truth about Jesus that the staff member had told me about.  I surrendered my life to Christ towards the end of my first semester of college and trusted Christ for forgiveness and as my righteousness!  Christ has changed my life and the desires and direction it was going, and I am thankful for His grace.
