Statement of Faith

  1. The Bible consists of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, and only these books. All Scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit and is self attesting as the unique, inerrant, and infallible written Word of God. The Bible provides everything necessary for God's glory and for our salvation, and it is the supreme and final authority on all matters on which it speaks.

  2. There is but one only, living and true God. In the unity of the Godhead there are three persons: the Father, the Son (eternally begotten of the Father), and the Holy Spirit (eternally proceeding from the Father and the Son). These three are one in substance and equal in power and glory. Our God decrees

  3. Whatsoever comes to pass. He created all things out of nothing by mere command. He made man, male and female, in His own image. He sustains and orders all things by His wise and gracious providence. To Him is due whatever worship, service, and obedience He demands.

  4. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. He who is true God became true man united in one Person forever. He died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins. On the third day He arose bodily from the dead, and ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He now rules over us and makes intercession for us.

  5. The Holy Spirit has come to glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to our hearts. He convicts us of sin and draws us to the Savior. Indwelling our hearts, He gives us a new heart and a saving faith. He empowers us and imparts gifts to us for service. He instructs and guides us into all truth, and seals us for the day of redemption.

  6. The human race fell from our original righteousness and communion with God when Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. From this original guilt and corruption, all humans became morally defiled in every aspect of their being, unable to do good, guilty before God, and subject to God's wrath and eternal judgment.

  7. In His infinite, eternal, and unchangeable love, God has graciously delivered His people from their state of misery and death to a new state of eternal life, by establishing the covenant of grace, through the Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Through the succeeding administrations of this covenant, which remains essentially the same through all ages, God has progressively revealed His saving plan, now fully revealed in Jesus Christ, the Mediator of the covenant. Our salvation is wholly dependent upon the free grace of God, Who unconditionally elects His people, provides atonement for them in the sacrifice of His one and only Son, unites them to Himself, gives them new birth and the gift of faith, justifies them by imputing to them the perfect righteousness of Christ, adopts them as His own children, sanctifies them by His Spirit, and causes them to persevere to glory.

  8. God's salvation is freely offered to all people in the gospel of Jesus Christ. There is no other way to be saved. It is the duty and privilege of all who hear the gospel to receive and embrace this good news by repentance and faith. All who truly believe will be saved.

  9. The true Church is composed of all persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit are united together in the body of Christ. The Church finds her visible, yet imperfect, expression in local congregations of professing believers and their children where the Word of God is preached in its purity, where the sacraments of baptism and the Lord's Supper are administered in their integrity, where scriptural discipline is practiced, and where loving fellowship is maintained. For her perfecting, she awaits the return of her Lord.

  10. The Lord Jesus commands His people to keep His commandments. We are to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength; and we are to love.

  11. Our neighbors as ourselves. We are to cherish God's law and to demonstrate God's love by proclaiming Jesus Christ to all the world, by word and by deed. Jesus came to destroy all racial, social, and economic barriers that divide His people. He expressed a special concern for the lost, the poor, the oppressed, the dispossessed, the lonely, and the afflicted. We are His disciples.

  12. God has appointed a day when He will judge the world by Jesus Christ, to whom has been given all authority to judge by the Father. On that day, Jesus Christ will return to earth --- personally, visibly, and bodily --- and all persons of all generations will appear before His throne to be judged. The righteous shall enter into everlasting life and the wicked and unbelieving to everlasting damnation. Thus will God consummate history and the plan of salvation, and thus will He receive eternal praise.
